Tired that it will take them to reset their clocks, Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer took the opportunity to share his support on the Sunshine Protection Act, tweeting spring forward and never do it again. The bill would negate Americans need to change their clock twice a year. I don't know. I think I'm with Shawn Spencer on that one and I know some people don't like it, but I just think we should be locked keep it locked. You know what I'm saying? Opposed to it Changing all the time. Martial law has been extended across more of Myanmar by the military. It follows at least 21 deaths in Yangon on Sunday as protests over February's military coup continued. Ousted civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi is due to appear in court on a series of charges her supporters say are fabricated. UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is chairing a task force meeting on Monday to discuss ways to make women safer. It follows criticism of policing of a weekend vigil for a murdered woman. A number of women were handcuffed and removed from a gathering in clap Um, which police say was unlawful. London's Met police chief Cressida Dick is understood to have the confidence of the prime minister, but Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey is calling for her to quit. It was entirely predictable and frankly understandable that a number of women would decide to go to clap in common to express their feelings despite the official vigil being canceled. And I think the Met police should have responded in a far more proportionate way. The last thing these grieving women should have been met with was the sorts of visible man handling by mail, public order police officers. I'm generally shocked by what I saw. Health officials in the Democratic Republic of Congo have postponed the rollout of the AstraZeneca vaccine following reports of the formation of blood clots in some people who have been vaccinated. In Europe, officials expressed concern about the vaccine side effects and have called off the vaccination campaign that was due to begin on Monday. Chris Archer Moringa reports from Kinshasa. The DRC Health Ministry's decision to postpone the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine comes a week after the country received 1.7 million doses of the vaccine. The postponement comes on the heels of the suspension of the vaccine by several European countries due to the formation of blood clots and some people. But scientists from the World Health Organization say the vaccine is safe. They say they found no link between the AstraZeneca jab and an increased risk of developing a clot. The whereabouts of Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny are known after he was removed from a detention center. He is serving a sentence for fraud charges he says are politically motivated. Julia Chapman reports Lawyers for Alexei Navalny say they were denied access on Friday as they tried to visit him in prison in Russia's Vladimir region. They were later told that he had been removed but were given no further information. The facility is obligated to notify relatives when prisoners are relocated, a process his legal team says has not happened. His wife, Yulia Navalny, a posted on social media, saying she wants to know where he is and that he's okay. Navalny was arrested on fraud charges in January after receiving treatment abroad for poisoning from bureaus worldwide. This is FSN. This show is almost as enjoyable as hearing the sound of the toilet flush. Rated R safety show on safety FM. Rated R safety show. Okay, so a lot of stuff going on as we talk and move and groove a lot of great information there from feature story news that we're talking about. Something's going on. So let's talk about this real quick, The Associated Press reports. Despite the drastically, different mitigation efforts between California and Florida have just about the exact same covid death and infection rates as of Friday from Florida, ranked 27th among the states for covid death, California was 28th. Both states have a case rate of just shy of 9000 per 100,000 residents. I don't know if that's something to be bragging about. 9000 cases per 100,000 people. 9000. You didn't hear that, right? I mean, what do you think? As you hear? Oh, So you have a 9% rate. Oh, there you go. So, what do you think? I mean, so, yes, there has been a huge difference between Florida and California. So what do you look at? What do you think the rate would have been of? California would have done things differently. I'm just asking. What do you think the rate would have been for Florida? Florida would have done things differently. I don't know. You can sit there and go. Could've would've should've But, uh, you know, and all that kind of fun stuff. But who the hell knows what is exactly your organization doing like, Seriously, what is your organization doing? I'm just asking, not asking for a friend asking for myself just in case. Anyways, growing pot is worse for the environment than mining coal. At least in Colorado, where marijuana has been legal for a few years now. A recent study shows the California State University indicates that the greenhouse gas admission from growing the herb accounts for 2.6 mega tons of carbon monoxide equivalent gases a year. Coal mining accounts for about 1.8 maker tons of the same emissions. One researcher says the growing an ounce of dope is the same as burning between seven and 16 gallons of gasoline. The study indicated that the majority of the emissions come from empowering climate control systems and grow lights. So what do you think here? Does this change the way that you look at medical marijuana or marijuana in general? Because we are talking about Colorado. So what do you think? There. So there is always a diverse thing or, you know, the weird comments that come about when it comes to marijuana, marijuana and the things that we normally do. So now that we do talk about this, that it could be affecting the environment, does it change the way that you look at it? I don't know. I'm just asking Europe. And you know, I don't know if it changes the way you look at it, but it does make you think, though the same amount as coal mining are actually worse, I don't know kind of strange stuff. Anyway, let's talk a little bit more. Duke University issued a quarantine order for all of its undergrad students, effective Saturday night due to the Corona outbreak caused by students who attended recruitment parties. The university said in a statement that all undergraduates will be forced to stay in in place until at least March, the 21st suspension, dismissal from the school and potential punishment for fragrant or repeat violators. More than 180 positive cases reported among the students in the past week, with over 200 students who may have been exposed. So what do you think about that? Seriously? I mean, that's a number for sure. Think about it for a second. I don't know. It looks like my lights got frozen behind me. By the way, that's always fun. So I don't know some crazy stuff when you really start thinking about it. So what do you think about the whole thing? So do you think that it only should be the undergraduate? Do you think it should be everyone? Some strange stuff, of course. And this is, of course, happening at Duke University. Don't hold me for it. I'm just letting you know exactly what's going on. What did she just say? We have safety. Don't always agree with the viewpoints of our hosts and guests. Now back to real safety talk on Safety FM Okay, Pfizer Biotech Nick SC revealed last week the Real World Data of Israel suggested that COVID 19 vaccine is 94% effective in the previous several infections, meaning that the vaccine would significantly reduce transmissions. The company also said that the leaders that the leaders, analysts of the data showed that the vaccine is about 97% effective in preventing the systematic disease, severe disease and death. Also, the vaccine is reportedly higher, effective against a variant of covid first discovered in Britain. According to the study, the data that was collected between January the 17th and March, the sixth has not been peer reviewed. So what do you think about that? As you do hear it, man, these lights definitely hate me today. That's perfectly fine. I'm not gonna I'm not gonna complain too much about it. Let's just do something else with them. So there you go. There you go. Some some definitely some different things coming about as we do talk about it. I don't know. I don't know. I just referenced what comes up, what shows up and all that kind of stuff. Protesters went toe to toe with officers in Los Angeles on Saturday as the anniversary of Brianna Taylor's death triggered violent confrontations. Officers responded to chaos, chaos, dressed in riot gear that they try to dispense and dispersed the crowd all at the same time who had already vandalised many businesses in the area. And one incident to protesters jumped on the hood of an L. A P D. Police squad car. Others founded the vehicle in the top, and the cop quickly sped off. I mean, I don't blame them. I would have probably done the exact same thing, leaving the rioters scrambling out of the way. Demonstrators also took the place to the, uh, places to New York and Louisville, where Brianna was shot in Seattle. Officers, officers and protesters had a very, very vulgarity. I can't speak today. I can't speak today of offenses that including assault and obstruction and resisting arrest. So a lot of stuff, definitely a lot of stuff going on. So how do you take a look at this when you hear about this? So people on the streets talking about what had happened having the discussion, do you think that the the things that people are doing in the streets will bring more attention to what is going on or what has happened. I'm just asking because I would hope that there's this more than just going to the streets. I hope it is bringing the attention that they're looking for anyway. Let's continue talking. The I R s announced on Friday the third round of stimulus checks will go out this week, with March the 17th noted as official payment day. Some banks have already started processing the check, so payments may show up as early in some accounts, Um, and later in others, full payment will go to individuals with an adjustment gross income of $75,000 or less and couples who earn less than 100 and $50,000. The amount of the stimulus is eventually phased out. Two singles, who earn about $80,000 in couples who earned $160,000. Meanwhile, an estimated $6.7 million tax returns are sitting on processes. The I R s has tasked with sending out stimulus payments and updating new tax code provision. The average tax refund for 2019 what's $2707? So why wait a few weeks to get your own money back. When you when you can get $1400 from someone else who just as a matter of days Well, here's my question for you. Here's my question. Do you get a lot of money back on your tax return on your on your tax returns? Seriously, this is a serious question, because if you do, you're doing your taxes wrong. Seriously, you need to get somebody who knows what the hell they're doing. You should probably be as if you're getting a return. You should probably be as close to $100 as possible. Let me explain why? Because what you're doing here is that if you're getting a big chunk of money at the end of the year for your tax returns, something's going. Cray Cray. Here's why I say this. This means you're lending the money to the federal government interest free, where if your tax return, what's going to set up the right way? Your taxes throughout the year? Better saying you would get more money throughout the year opposed to a giant payment. We'll call it a balloon payment at the end of the year. I'm not a tax professional, but damn, you want to get it as close closest to the pin as possible. I mean, why would you want to lend out money to someone who does not give you interest? Why would you want to lend out money, period? But think about it for a second interest free. I mean, do you get money interest free? Because if you do, then that's a good thing. Anyways, you should be borrow mourning, period. But that's another conversation that we probably should not have on this show. But if you think about it for just a brief moment, if you could get that as close as possible, that would change a lot of things for you. Seriously, it's not a joke. It's not something that I'm joking I'm kidding about. Anyway, just continue talking. Air travel is soaring on Friday, T S. A says that the agent screen more than 1.3 million passengers at airport security checkpoints across the nation, a number that has not reached um for almost nearly a year. The rise of the rise of air travel comes as covid 19 vaccines are on the rise in states continue to roll back restrictions. T s a spokesperson Lisa Farbstein shared the understatement. So let's ask the question real quick. So let's say, for instance, you had t s a pre check or if you had a clear, you know, the clear me people. Or if you had global entry. If that stuff was expiring during the last year, did you let it go? Correct, because you weren't traveling as much. I'm just asking because I will tell you my renewal actually just came up on one of those lovely programs and I was debating about not doing it. My wife told me I was nuts, said that I needed to get my ass in gear and start moving. I don't blame her, so of course I renewed it. But I almost let it go because I was like, What's the point? I'm not traveling anywhere, which has been very sad, but that's okay. Worse things could happen. Not that bad. It's okay. Let's continue talking to People are dead and 10 are wounded. After gunfire erupted in a party, guess where On Chicago's south side early Sunday, officers responded to a shooting of local businesses around 4:30 a.m. according to police spokesperson Jose Jara. According to the Chicago Sun Times, those shot shot range in the age between 20 to 44 years old. No other details about the incidents were sharing, including whether the investigation believes that all the shots were fired by one person or multiple individuals. So there you go, Another news. Let's talk about it. One custom border Patrol facility for immigration Children in South Texas was at 729% of its legal capacity at the start of the month, and it was detained kids in cages that are allowed to shower only once a week. Mhm. The current administration has not acknowledged this problem. Once the government lawyers tell CBS News some of the boys that have been in the condition were overcrowded that they had to take turns sleeping on the floor as of March the second, there were about 1800 people in the complex, which was also designed to only hold about 250 people. Rules instituted by the Department of Health and Human Services required that all Children to be transferred within 72 hours of their arrival At least 130 Children have been held into these cramp facilities for at least 10 days. In the two weeks since the start of the month, 4200 people have crossed the border and been intercepted by border officials, which obviously has, which doesn't account for those who pass through the border undetected. So there you go, some interesting stuff going on around there, that's for sure. What do you think about this as you hear it? Let's continue talking. The U. S. Hit a record. Matter of fact, it hit a world record in the daily Covid 19 vaccination over the weekend Friday into Saturday, the nation has been administered 2.98 million vaccine as the world's best record, according to a tweet from the White House. The C D. C. Reports that as of this week, and nearly 70 million Americans have received at least the initial dose of the vaccine, while more than 37.4 million have been fully vaccinated. So what do you think about this as you hear it? I mean, it's kind of interesting. I mean, that's a lot of vaccinations, definitely keeping some people busy. I mean, what do you think about it? Have you received the vaccine or is there still some fear out there about vaccinations? Yeah, because they're not a lot of information out there. And are you in a state yet that they have actually changed the age demo? And if they have, What are you thinking? Are you thinking you're going to do it? Because I know there's been a lot of conversations about people saying, I don't know if I'm going to do it or not. I'm just asking. I'm just asking. I'm not asking for a friend. I'm just asking the question. Some stuff to think about, for sure. I mean, we are talking about health related issues here, not anything else. So let's talk about it. Let's think about it Anyways, I could probably blab on forever, but, you know, that's probably not a good idea to do that. So let's continue on to something else. Here is our main story on the radio safety show. Okay, so let's talk about it. Let's talk about that thing that has always been around that thing. Well, I shouldn't say it's always been around, but it's been talked about several times Over the years, you have probably heard it. You have heard the number reference. You have heard the lovely opinion of many you have heard the triangle Hendricks were exposed specific ratio relating to the number of near misses in minor harm injuries to a single harm injury in a form of 329 and one. I mean, I'm sure you've heard of 329 and one because a lot of a lot of us have. So what's the meaning? What is the meaning of the whole 329 and one? So you are probably familiar with pyramids because we talk about pyramids, the Heidrich 329 land models. So if you have heard of this bear with me, if you haven't heard of this, let me explain real quick. It's the simple trajectory of 300. Near misses could lead to 29 minor injuries that could lead to one catastrophic or major injury. Sound about familiar about what it is, I will tell you. I worked at an organization where they passed out bracelets. We gave out bracelets. We spoke about this all the time of 329 and one about how important it was about how people should go about and think about these things. And what do you think? What do you think when you hear about this model, do you think it has validity to it? Do you think Henrik was wrong about talking about this? Do you have people inside of your organization report near misses. And on average, if they do, do you notice that 300 of them, when you have them, do they lead to the next thing and then the following We are talking about mathematical equations as we were talking about it. So is this something that you have put in practice inside of your organization? And are you seeing at work in the way that it's being discussed? We can say in this particular model. Now, I will tell you I have interacted with several companies inside of the world of transportation, and this seems to be a huge and I'm gonna say belief system. People tend to think that this is the coup de gras. Of all that, this is the greatest of greatest. This is the best of the best. Inside of the world of transportation. So as you hear this, what is your beliefs about it? Is this something that goes into practice at your organization? I will tell you, I've even been to construction sites where people have this slapped onto their helmets. So is this the right thing? Is it the wrong thing, or is it one of those things that you say If you don't have anything, at least you have this? Or do you think that it's hogwash? Do you think that it's just some rough numbers that somebody threw off or threw up? Should I say, threw up seriously? Because a lot of people, even inside of the insurance companies, still use that and talk about, especially if you're in transportation and the references about part of unsafe acts. For every 300 unsafe acts, 29 minor accidents occur in one major catastrophic accident. The theory is 329. 1 is tied to the definition of safety, and then it goes. As far as this, the definition of safety is freedom from risk. Risk can be reduced through the elimination of unsafe it acts, therefore, is a link between the frequency of numbers of unsafe acts and the occurrence of catastrophic accidents. A driver. As a driver, you must always eliminate on save acts in your daily work routine. Okay, So are you controlling the other car now? I'm just asking. But as the transportation industry talks about this and as other places inside of the world reference this as well, we're not going to sit here and go. This is gonna say hogwash, and we're not going to sit here and go, Oh, it's valid or it's invalid. But it's a theory that's out there. This is why I always ask about near misses. When I go into an organization and start talking, Are they tracked? And if they are, what are you seeing? And then the other question always becomes. This is near misses the correct term to use. Think about it for a moment. What does it do? So if you're in a place that you asked for reporting of near misses and I've been to several of those? Are you seeing this as a consistent number in what all do you recall or recount as a near miss? Because I will tell you I was at an organization where I was working as an employee and somebody gave me a near miss because they almost stepped on a ketchup packet on the parking lot of the workplace. This is not a joke. This is very serious. I'm not making this one up. So I am sitting in a meeting and they turned this over to me that they had left to catch up packet in the parking lot that they had seen and nobody removed it, complaining about the janitorial staff and how it was a near miss because she could almost lit and fell. I thought it was a joke, so I started laughing. And when I got the serious look, then I knew for sure that she was not being serious. Now I'm going to tell you, if you go take a look at some of these numbers and talk about this 300 may not be the magic number. Some people have said that it goes as high as 600 so that's the thing. There's a lot of stuff to talk about. And listen, if you're if your organization has nothing like nada, nada, nada, nada, nada, nada in place, Well, this is better this is better than nothing. And I will tell you for years and years and years and years and years and years. That was my go to model. I didn't know any better. That's what I went to. That was my default. That is what I went around state after state after state, working for this large transportation company. And I spoke about and I talked about and we gave out bracelets just like the organization wanted. And we had posters. And we did all these things. Oh, safety, communication. And this is how we were going to communicate the 329 and the one. It was part of our defensive driving class, and it was part of our retraining and all that near misses. So in other words, I'm asking the people out there to self report. That's the first thing that I learned as I was doing this for many years, not the easiest task on the planet to get accomplished. Hey, can you tell me what? What what potentially almost went wrong, and then when something did, the question always came from my boss. What other incidents occurred prior to, and then if something major occurred, then another conversation. Now I'm not trying to be doom and gloom here, but, of course, with having video cameras inside of the vehicles at the time that recorded inward and outward, you got to see a lot of interesting things. You got to have a lot of interesting conversations. They call them behavior modification devices, which I don't know if that's a good title. I like the company we interacted with, and I thought it was a good idea at the time, and there was a point system and all this kind of stuff. But it was based around the model 329 and one, and the system almost told you that if you look at the pattern, you can see it. Some people still agree with that till this day. A lot of insurance companies definitely agree with it in regards of the
