As you and I are hanging out here together on this lovely friday morning and of course we're hanging out with our friends are buds, Our colleagues at that other place. You know that other place? We do things you're being infiltrated. Radio big Oh yes, infiltration, radio, big style. You know how that goes as we do it here and we broadcast all the time doing the things that we do um hanging out together anyway. So hopefully you are stoked ready or whatever the hell you want to word it as as we're getting into the weekend, we're moments away, Moments away, all you have to do is survive through this day and we'll kind of go from there. So there you go. Some things to think about. For sure. So it is friday. We do normally call it free form friday as you do now because we just want to do everything in free form. We wanted to be the show that you wanted to be. So that's the great thing about it. We normally kind of want that to be every day. The phone lines will be open if you're interested in texting through um texting through. Sometimes I do take phone calls but you know I'm a shy guy, I'm a shy guy so I never know what to do but if you want to check something in you can at 866930 S. FM one, that's 866930 sfm one. Or you could actually go to the, if you're on the streamer on the social media platforms you can put something inside of the box. If I'm lucky enough I'll actually receive it and then we can talk about it whatever the hell you have going on. So good morning to those people are in the box already saying good morning. So what does DS one ds promised us Buenos Dias come on stan told us. Song India bareness the vein, dont the Cuneo so there you go. Some stuff going on for sure. So a lot of stuff we normally start talking about what is trending inside of the world. So let's not do it any different today than what we would do any other day anyway so let's talk about what is going to be on your video, on demand services, your streamers, your streaming and so on if you're trying to find some movies and some things to actually do over the weekend. So here we go, taking it from the top new to amazon prime Pinocchio due to Disney plus the Happiest millionaire by the way, Loki came out earlier this week. Did you take a take a view to take a gander? I have to tell you I started watching it but ended up watching me if you know what I mean? There by the drift. Um So that's that's their new to Disney Plus and then new to HBO max will be in the Heights And then the 40 year old Virgin. Hey now yeah, I did say hey now. Um so there you go. Um and then new to you, you will become True Dragonheart. Dragonheart a new beginning. Dragonheart three, The Sorcerer's Curse, Dragonheart Battle for the heart fire and then not not fade away and Willy's Wonder Land. I have to ask you the question when you start seeing movies that have multiple parts, have you noticed that some of the streaming services will release multiple parts but they won't release all of them. How frustrating is that especially we're trying to watch it in some kind of chronological order that could be aggravating to an extent. Don't know why I brought that up, but I think it was important to talk about that's for sure. Um so let's continue talking anyways, new to netflix will be skater girl, Wish Dragon and the Devil below. Hey, that's that just sounds kind of kind of intriguing. The Devil below. What do you think that one's about? I definitely don't know. Anyway, so that's what's going on. So let me kind of tell you the layout of the show if you're not familiar, this is the first time. Well, welcome to the show number one. I will kind of be the guy that will guide you through the whole thing and how this works. You know what? I haven't popped up on the screen in a very long time. I don't even know if I still have it. Do I have it? Uh No, that's not it. Uh I don't even know if I have it. Do I even have that little thing that I used to pop up? Uh huh. I used to do some kind of titling at some point in my life where we would actually do whatever my name was, and then I kind of didn't like showing that, Oh yeah, here it is, Here it is. That's me. That's me. If you're watching on hold on, that's me. If you're watching on the streaming services, so there you go, that that's that's who I am, that's what I do, whatever that's not important. Anyway, so, let's get into what do you Well, matter of fact, I should probably explain the show to you a little bit better. We bring in professional broadcasters that talk about the stuff that is going on inside of the world, and then I come in after that and I kind of give you my nonsense because it is nonsense, and then we kind of hang out and do some things um and then we kind of go through some world of safety and so on, and I'm gonna tell you because I think it's kind of funny when I start talking to people, there's a couple of things that normally happen, especially if they know that I do these shows. Um they talked to me about this show first meeting the rate at our safety show and kind of tell me that that is the thing that they they listen to behind closed doors and then it's kind of brought up of, you know, that you only don't talk about safety in there. Well, thank you for bringing that up, but yeah, I kinda host the thing, I'm kind of familiar with it, but here's the thing I want, what I want you to understand is we're pointing some of these things out is how safety is in the news. Think about this as you look at the whole sequence of events here, safety is always in the news, it might not be the way that you're looking at it from an organizational standpoint, but think about it when you listen to the majority of the news stories, I'll say a good 70 to 80% of the stuff that we talk about, even though we kind of joke around from time to time, we do focus on the different things that are going on, but they all have a safety twist inside of it. So think about that as we are going on here anyway, so let's get you to our friends and feature story news. Let them talk about what's featuring, what's going on and all that kind of fun stuff. And then I'll come back and we'll jump on together and do the things that you and I do. What exactly does that even mean? Here is the news on safety show. I'm Kate Fisher. The UK and the us have pledged hundreds of millions of COVID-19 vaccine doses for poorer countries. After talks between Joe Biden and Boris, Johnson Mr biden is on his first foreign trip as US president and he met the UK prime minister in Cornwell in Western England ahead of the G seven summit being held there. And tensions over Northern Ireland don't yet appear to have derailed proceedings. As ali Barrett reports from cornwall, the head of their talks Washington had warned London not to harm the peace process in Northern Ireland with its stance on the Northern Ireland protocol contained in the Brexit deal with the european union. But after their meeting, Joe biden was sounding positive. We've had a good first full day here in the UK. Prime Minister johnson and I a very productive media Boris johnson sounded very taken with his american counterpart. There's so much that they want to do together with us from security NATO to climate change and it's fantastic. It's a breath of fresh air. Joe biden. Also confirmed here, the U. S. Is buying 500 million fighter Covid 19 vaccine doses to donate to lower income countries. Ali Barrett at the G seven in cornwall. Northern Ethiopia is suffering a famine. According to the United Nations humanitarian chief Mark Lowe cock made the declaration after the release of a U. N. Backed analysis. It found that 350,000 people were living in severe crisis in the war torn tigre region. 1.7 million people have been displaced in Tigre by fighting between government forces and rebels. U. S. Deaths from Covid 19 have plunged by 90% since january. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Fresh data shows that the US was the worst hit by the pandemic of the major western democracies. While the country struggles to hit a 70% national vaccination targets set by the Biden administration. Our us correspondent, Nina Maria Pots reports, Seattle has become the first major US. city to vaccinate 70% of its residents aged 12 and over. More than half of the us population has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. But it's the unvaccinated population that's driving the current death toll. Eight states all in the Northeast have fully vaccinated more than half of their residents. But some two dozen states are scaling back their daily tracking of covid 19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths amid warnings. It's premature to be under reporting the data. The biden administration, which had pledged to get 70% of americans vaccinated by july 4th, Is still struggling to incentivize vaccinations nationally from Bureaus worldwide. This is with the spotlight. I'm Simon marks looking in more detail today at the upcoming G7 summit to be hosted by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in Cornwall for president biden. Now in the UK, the summit serves as a huge opportunity to rebuild international alliances and underscore America's commitment to the principle of multilateralism. After four years of donald trump's leadership in which that was thrown into doubt. PJ Crowley was Assistant US Secretary of State in the Obama administration. I'm guessing there actually will be a a leader statement that the president knighted states will not refuse to sign onto. You know, the tone and texture of this meeting will be much different than they were over the past four years. Joe biden is a determined internationalist. Obviously he's going to you know, look after the interests of the United States just as Boris johnson will look after the interests of the United Kingdom. But you know, I think he recognizes that you get more done by playing you know nicely um than than you do by going off the rails as the as his predecessor used to do. No question there will be a difference in tone. But President biden will also have to persuade the international leaders he's meeting over the next week that american democracy is secure and his own type of multilateral worldview is back in the oval office to stay with the spotlight. I'm Simon marks the main news again. The UK and the US have pledged hundreds of millions of Covid 19 vaccine doses for poorer countries. After talks between joe biden and Boris, johnson. Northern Ethiopia is suffering a famine according to the United Nations Humanitarian Chief and US. deaths from COVID-19 have plunged by 90% since January according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. And that's the latest feature story. News Kate Fisher reporting. This show is almost as enjoyable as hearing the sound of the toilet flush rated r safety show on safety. FM. Anyways, that it is 18 minutes past the top of the hour as you and I are hanging out on this lovely Friday ladies and gents, that's how it's going on right now. So a lot of stuff to talk about inside of the world of news, I have to tell you, I don't know what's going on with these lights today. Uh, sounds seems very superman like in color. So there you go. So let's talk about this. Let's talk about what is going on inside of the world of the news. As you can see our friends. That feature story gave us a lot of information about what exactly was going on. So let's start talking about this new research shows that 25 states saw more deaths than births last year. Yeah, the States include the following Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas Connecticut, Delaware florida indiana Kentucky, maine, massachusetts, michigan Mississippi Missouri Montana, New Hampshire, new Mexico, Ohio Oregon, pennsylvania, Rhode island, south Carolina, Tennessee Vermont west Virginia and Wisconsin. Typically the vast majority of states have more bursts than death. But last year, As a portion of this year has been to is a big exception to a lot of the stuff that is going on, just kind of the way that it goes. So there you go. Now, you see research shows that 25 states, so half the country, if you're in the us, some more deaths than births, Uh, talk about some depressing news right away. That's not even funny. So there you go. Uh, so anyway, let's continue talking. Um, it is, you know, she's certainly after the hour, we'll say 20 after because it just barely changed. So there you go, 20 after the top of the hour. I think that we need to start talking about stocks right away. And I think we can bring our friend in from john and Heidi in the afternoon or the john and Heidi show and we can have john smalls tells us exactly what's going on. So take a listen right now. Here's your market beat minute for friday, june 11th 2021. The june reading of the C. P. I. Index came in hotter than expected and the market seems not to care. The index rose 20210.7% at the core or 0.2% hotter than expected for a 5% year over year gain. Even worse. The pace of inflation is accelerating and may force the Fed's hand later this year at 5% inflation is running well above the FOMC S 2% target rate and more than warrants an interest rate hike. Friday will be another important day for the market, investors will be eager to see if the indexes can build on thursday's gains. The s and P 500 jumped about 5000.75% to set a new all time high on thursday, but closed well off the high of the session. If the market fails to follow through on a new high, it could signal a period of sideways or downward trading over the summer. You can get the inside track from Wall Street's brightest minds delivered directly to your inbox every day at market beat minute dot com. Okay, thank you johnny Smalls for that one. Let's get into some other sections here about what is going on on what we could find on our end, thursday's trading session enjoyed gains as the dow added about 19 points and the NASDAQ lifted about 100 and eight points and the SNP rose about 19 points. It was the first day all three indexes finished up this week. First time fillers. Yeah, for unemployment benefits last week totaled less than the analysis had forecasted. The trend seems to be gaining steam In recent weeks as states reduce unemployment benefits in an effort to get people to work Oxford in Oxford industries, the owner of Tommy Bahama brand gained more than 8% after reporting a better than expected first quarter profit. So do you wear some about some Tommy bahama stuff? I'm just asking the question here because I am, and of course in that place called florida florida florida. Uh it's a popular brand here. I mean, let's not lie, I'm not gonna lie about it. I mean, it's just reality of how it goes, depending on where you hang, you might see some older demo wearing the Tommy bahama gimmicks, clothing, whatever the hell you want to call it. So good to see that their socks went up and some other things went up as well. Anyways, just best so is being mocked over the shape of his rocket twitter. Users compared the blue origin space craft with best uh, that, which best is, will fly into space next month to a penis. Yeah, I said that to a penis. Another user suggested that his historic rock, it looks like a giant sex toy calling it a giant flaming space dildo. Yeah. Best so. And his brothers, Mark will take the rocket into the skies from texas on july the 20th. The trip will last about 10 minutes. Wow. I see a lot of coincidences on what people are saying in the 10 minute thing. What am I saying? What did he just say? We have safety. Don't always agree with the viewpoints of our hosts and guests. Now back to real safety talk on safety. FM. Okay, so here you go, americans can expect to shell out more, go for goods and services than they did in 2020 compared to the same time last year, food prices rose about 2.2% gases up about 56.2% and vehicle prices are up 3.3%. Experts believe that multiple factors behind the increases of prices include supply chain constraints, shortages and labor crunch. So there you go. Uh So I don't know some interesting things to think about. Of course with that being reported, some people are already saying, well there is also a different administration when in the White House a year ago. Also there was a pandemic last year. So let's not keep that out of the equation. I mean we're still kind of going through portions of it were seeing some reopenings. So there you go. Some some context to the behavior here. Come on down. Okay, so let's continue talking. Seattle has become the first hold on. Seattle has become the first major U. S. City to vaccinate 70% of its residents Ages 12 and under. Yes, I did say under with the threat with the threat of the threshold reach about. Here we go. So with that threshold, mayor jenny jerkin said the city will now launch efforts to support the reopening of retailers, restaurants, art and cultural programming and other initiatives. They have been over 44,000 cases in more than 5700 deaths in the state of Washington of Washington since the onset of the pandemic. So there you go. Some things to think about here. So here's the thing. So as that is being listed of the retailers restaurants and art and cultural programming. So are you telling me that none of the shit has been open for the time being? I'm just asking the question now. Keep in mind I live in a very, very strange place. I mean florida is like a whole different world within itself. And you know, people have been open here for quite some time just doing their own thing. So I have to ask the question. That's not a work. That's a shoot. Just in case. Anyways, let's continue talking. Well that has requested the FDA grant emergency use authorization for its covid 19 vaccine in adolescents. The request comes after promising data of phase 23 or two thirds teen cove study involving 3732 teens ages 12 to 18. If approved, it would be the second vaccine available to young teens or younger teens in that fact. So let's talk about this real quick because I want a backtrack for a moment and have a clear understanding of this because we talked about this briefly yesterday. So let's talk about it again today because that's what we do. You know, we kind of recycle some stuff. But As you see this, if you have a child within the ages of 12 and 18 or a Dallas incense, what would you do here? Because remember it is still not a fully approved vaccination. We are talking emergency use. So would you allow them to do this? Would you get that done? I'm just asking the questions. I want to have a better understanding or when it becomes fully approved by the FDA than are you okay with it? I'm just asking because I don't know what your GIM is. So I have to ask that question and then you get to tell me what you think. Our safety show, sarcastic. Never. Okay, peacocks are running amok in L. A. County. The birds who often travel in packs are taking over sidewalks, streets, yards and roofs. They are also damaging residents, homes, cars and yards. The L. A. County board of supervisors trying to get a handle of, of the issue, especially after hundreds of complaints about them surrounding off at the dawn with noise so piercing that residents describes as babies being tortured, wow, hold on, babies being tortured. The creatures have also been roaming the the area since, let's see a pair were brought back in from India in the 19th century. It is unclear exactly how many are they are there out there right now. So hold on because I'm gonna tell you the moment that I started talking about this when I hear the word peacock now, it associates automatically to me to NBC streaming service, just kind of the way that it goes. Um, so I don't know do you think peacock is a good name for a streaming service? Kind of a weird thing? Um, and then the other portion now that, you know, you're hearing about this in L. A. County, what do you think about it? So if you go to L. A. County and you hear a whole bunch of screaming uh peacocks, are you going to think that they sound like tortured babies? Hey, just a question here. And how do you plan for that? And you know, dive reminds me once again about noise cancellation and how the hell that stuff would work and probably something you'd have to think about. Anyway, a grandmother and her almost two year old grandson were killed while shopping at the publix in florida yesterday. Yeah, I'm not a joke here. Eyewitnesses told the Palm Beach post that a gunman opened fire around 11:30 a.m. Shooting. The woman and child authorities later reported the gunman then turned the gun on himself. Investigators are still trying to determine the motive but believe that the three victims knew each other. So hold on, a grandmother, a two year old and a gunman. Of course, nothing else is being reported. So this is a developing story. Wow, that got dark quick. That's not a joke at all. Safety in a way. Never heard of before. The rated r safety show on safety. FM. Okay. An Australian team is in a coma after being crushed by a breaching whale. The freak incident occurred on sunday when Nick 18 and his step dad Matt in 39. We're fishing from their boat off the coast of no rumor news in New South Wales. The impact left Nick with a broken neck and severe head injury. Seven news reported Matt suffered a concussion and cuts to his face but managed to bring the damaged boat back to the shore. Wow! That sounds like a crazy story as you start taking a listen to that one because there you go. Once again talking about the same thing. How can you plan for the thing that you don't expect to happen? Craziness on how this stuff works and how we talk about it all the time. Anyways, let's continue talking about initial job loss claims. It fell again last week to a new pandemic low filing for filing dropped to about 376,000 down from 385,000 from the prior week. According to the Labor Department. The data comes from the US. from us opening soared to a new record 9.3 million in April and mid May. More than 15.4 a million Americans have remained on the some form of government assistance. So good to see some things that are changing about and going about as they are moving now. So some good stuff always going on there anyways, it is 31 minutes past the top of the hours you and I are hanging out on this lovely Friday doing the things that we do anyways, let's talk a little bit more about things that are going on inside of the world. And you know, we talk a lot about news and we talk a lot about safety and we talk a little bit about everything and we kind of poked fun and poke at the bear and all that kind of fun stuff and you know, it's always good intent, it's not with malice as we do this. But man, it's becoming more and more interesting on, I'm seeing organizations as of late because I get to talk to a lot of people and seeing the freak out moments of I think we're getting to the point because everybody's been locked up for such a long period of time, they don't know what to do next and let me explain what I mean by that. Listen, I know it's been a while since you've had to do an in person meeting. I know it's been a while since you probably had to communicate with somebody in full sentences, but man, has it become kind of a plethora of a cluster F Yeah, I did say cluster F of how people are able to interact nowadays. Listen, kind of let's kind of ease back for a moment, let's take it easy and let's move forward. Yeah, it's a little bit difficult now, you know, getting these group meetings getting done and all that kind of fun stuff but man it's not as difficult as some of us are trying to make it as of late think about this for a moment. If you want to do an impersonal event you can do it in person event if you want to do a virtual event you can do a virtual event if you want to do a hybrid you can do a hybrid. But we I I think that some of us and I'm sure that I'm included into this, we have lost the talent of being able to communicate to people because it's been such a long period of time outside of just using email or text or this virtual portion. I mean I'll tell you I was having a conversation with a close friend of mine and he was telling me on how he has not wore pants in almost a year because he's been working from home. And then I started really thinking about that. I thought she had people come over, but that's a whole other story. But think about this, There are some things that over the last year really 18 months at this point that people who are not accustomed to. I mean think about it, think about how there are still places that are not or have not allowed their employees to return and there are starting to return now. I mean I take a look at all kinds of interesting industries on things that are going on and it's amazing to me on the work from home and that's our telecommuting as some people like to call it. But it's interesting still to see that some people are only doing that full time. And here's the interesting part as well, we kind of have learned that through the pandemic, or a portion of the pandemic, how tele community is possible through almost everything nowadays. It's not this impossible thing that a lot of people believe that it was at one point where, oh no, you can't telecommute it. That's not the way that we do work. The way that we do work is that you must show up day in and day out into an office. Well, there's a happy medium for all this stuff. And I think that it's interesting on how some research shows depending on kind of what side of the aisle you stand on, and this is where it's gonna get kind of weird that if you work from home or telecommute, you're not really doing as much as I work as a person who is physically there. I don't know if I buy that bullshit. I I have people that I know that are committed 12-14 hours a day of work because they're able to do it from home. Is that a good thing? Probably not. But also at the same time to are there people that take advantage of the system? Yes, but here's the thing. Have you ever really sat back and considered for a moment? What's the most important angle on this? Is it really the working from home thing or working in person or the amount of hours that you're committing or is it getting the job done? Now? I know that there is a big variable based on what kind of work you do, because if you are safety professional, which I pray that that's what you are, especially if you're taking a listen to this thing, well, your work has probably never done. Then the question becomes, how do you communicate going forward? The messaging of safety. And here's the interesting part if you really sit back and you think about this and you want to be a bra, bra, bra, bra, bra, bra, bra, bra, bra, cheerleader for safety, A person that is talking about it, that's showing it. And talking and moving and grooving and all that. Do you know what? You probably need to have a good course on or get some basic knowledge on. Is marketing? Yeah. Think about that when it's all said and done. When you're really doing a lot of this stuff. It's marketing. It's how you market. Remember if we're going to use the terminology of safety. It's not something that most people can touch or feel. And you can't even prove if it worked. Uh, I'm getting into that weird zone now. But think about it for a moment. If I helped your organization save $1 million. Not that they ever lost $1 million. How could I prove it? See how difficult that becomes. It's kind of a one of those weird things to sit around and talk about on a friday because a lot of people don't want to have these deep thoughts of conversation as we are going through these things. But think about it for a moment and I know it's kind of a rough one, especially when we're talking about this on a friday before. You're probably going to go out there and try to enjoy yourself as much as possible. Just something to think about. Of course, What did she just say? We have safety FM. Don't always agree with the viewpoints of our hosts and guests. Now, back to real Safety Talk on safety FM. Don't go anywhere. You're listening to the home of real Safety talk.
