So there you go. Some interesting things going on inside of the world of the Multiverse as we are talking right now and doing and moving and grooving. I don't know exactly what is going on here. So I can be seen here, but I can't be seen on the other one. I guess those things just happen anyway. So there you go. A lot of information going on. Let's talk about what's trending according to amazon and all that other lovely stuff. So we'll talk about that relatively quick. So here you go. Uh New to amazon on the video on demand service. Let's talk about what will be available this weekend somewhere is one of them and wonder is the other. So there you go. Combination of things right there to talk about. Think about and all that kind of fun stuff. I don't know. Okay, knew the Disney plus will be Rio the kid who would be the king and treasure buddies. Well, that sounds sounds odd. Uh, and then Newt HBO max. The Dark Knight rises. Oh, where's he at? You can never go wrong with a little bein in your life. Oh no, not at all. There anyway, it's not at all. Songbird wasn't that movie like just recently released a modern prosecution or persecution in Thelma And the new to netflix will be are low and the alligator boy crimson peak into the beat rush. The zookeeper's wife in MS. Alone. So there you go. You got a whole array of things that is coming your direction. If you're so inclined to hang out, do that and all that kind of other fun stuff that you're supposed to say inside of that wording. I don't know why it's doing that. That is such a weird analysis or a weird thing going on inside of here. But hey, that's what happens when you're doing live. I guess we'll play with the cameras other ways as we're doing this here today. Uh, so there you go. Some interesting stuff always going on inside of the world here. So let's get you into, I guess some version al Itty of normal sequencing like we normally would do, don't go anywhere. You're listening to the home of real safety dog. You are listening to safety FM will be right back. We all want to make sure that our family is protected in medical emergencies. What many of us don't realize is that health insurance won't always cover the full amount of an emergency medical flight. Even with comprehensive coverage, you could get hit with high deductibles and copays. That's why an air med care network membership is so important as a member. If an emergency arises, you won't see a bill for air medical transport when flown by an A. M. C. N. Provider. Best of all, a membership covers your entire household for as little as $85 a year. A. M. C. N. Providers are called upon to transport nearly 100,000 patients a year. This is coverage no family should go without. Now. As a J. Allen show listener, you'll get up to a $50 gift card with a new membership, simply visit Air med care network dot com slash safety and use the offer code safety. And don't forget to tell them that J Allen sent you in the small town of Elmira new york. A boy was born into an all american family. The odds of him achieving his dream in the fashion industry one and 23 million. The odds of having a child diagnosed with autism one in 68 I am Tommy Hilfiger and my family is affected by autism, learn more at autism speaks dot org slash signs brought to you by autism speaks and the ad council. Okay, so there you go. A lot of stuff going on. Of course. First thing, hopefully we got the cameras back working and grooving and all that kind of fun stuff because you know, that's important. Not really. But I guess we'll say that it is Oh, and by the way, I guess because I never said it earlier, were screaming over there too. Mhm. Real big extreme. 24 7, Real big dot FM. And then to answer the question in the box, yeah, they're saying no gun on the 13 year old. So not much that I could uh could share their, I have not seen the video myself, I know that it was readily available. Yesterday afternoon was not something that I was intrigued to take a look at. Um if I'm being honest here was tied up with some other things, so I have to tell you a lot of stuff going on inside of the world. So before I forget, I had a very interesting circumstance yesterday I'll share with you because you know, hey, this is what we need to do. We need to share information on the stuff that goes on. So yesterday I'm attending a class, Yeah, I'm attending, not not teaching, I'm attending a class, so understand that going through the class sequence and we get to the end of the class kind of fun stuff. You know, I'm taking a listen to what's going on, blah, blah blah. And the instructor says, hey, we're coming to an end here. So no big deal. The class is supposed to end at 00. So it's a four hour class At three hours and 57 minutes. The instructor says, Hey, listen, we're closing out the class. Cool, fine. No big egos. What we have left is about a 10 minute review. So we're just going to close it out now. Okay, no problem. We start going through the sequence of closing out and I a mute my microphone to say goodbye. You know, you normally would do. So. Some gentleman interrupts and says, hold on, I have two minutes of something that I want to share. So he goes through his spiel. No problem. So not realizing that at that time there is, my mic is still on muted. I receive a video, a piece of video surveillance right at that particular time that is talking about a bobcat had attacked somebody in their yard. So me wanting to be the the interested individual on getting this video that was sent, I press play, not realizing all the cursing and all the screaming and shouting that was going to take place during the time. So as the end part of that class was a curse filled rant with a bobcat attacking someone and people screaming. It was quite fantastic. I'm sure the people on the other end really did tend to enjoy that. You are listening to something you're listening to the rated R safety show. Okay, So there you go. So you know, you have to be honest you have to share exactly what's going on going on. So let's just not be unrealistic of the things that do happen. Jim puzzle in the blocks this morning. Good morning to you there sir. Kind of interesting on why when you go to link in your stuff doesn't show up. I know there's some kind of sequence of events um that need to take place but then again we need to be careful when we're on linkedin. We don't want anybody's notifications to start turning on who the hell knows what might happen after that. Anyways the C. D. C. This week um that put a pause on the johnson and johnson Covid vaccine would continue for at least a week. Dr Fauci said that the pause will be more like days to weeks rather than weeks to months. Uh The time Off is meant to give scientists to collect more data before deciding whether to resume the single dose vaccine to combat the virus. The break was recommended after six out of 7.5 million people reported severe blood clots. So you ready for this? Because we had to do the math. That's 0000 So four zeros 8% That were impacted. So let's be that again. .0008 were impacted by that. So there you go. Um Is that something that you want to think about? I'm just saying just some things to think about now. Of course. People, there are some people that are thinking that Dr Fauci, is this taking advantage of the situation for him to be on all kinds of news sources? I don't believe that's the case. But that's just me. What the hell do I know? I'm just a guy behind this thing right here. Anyway, let's continue talking. As of thursday over 198.3 million Covid vaccines have been administered Nationwide with over 78.4 million Americans have been fully vaccinated. While more than 125.8 million have received at least windows. According to the CDC. The total number of comparative cases In the US. is over 31 million. And with more than 561,000 deaths attributed to the virus. So as you see yesterday it did jump up a little over 1000. So that we did talk about that yesterday on how it seemed like it had slowed down. But now it seems like it's Another speed up for a moment. Okay, so there you go. There's some information on that in San Francisco, a record 708 people died from overdosing on fentaNYL in 2020. Not only is that a 61 increase year over year in nearly tripled. The 254 people in San Francisco who died of COVID In 2020. So I guess that's some information that needs to be shared as well as we do move forward anyways. Former cop Derek Chavin told the judge thursday that he will not take the stand in his own defense at Chavin chosen to take the stand. He would um have been grilled by the prosecution about prior use of force allegations against him and his service record, closing statements are expected to take place on monday. Chavan is charged with second degree murder, third degree murder and second degree manslaughter in the death of George Floyd. It's gonna be interesting in seeing on how that case moves forward because as we did talk about previously and I'm sure we'll continue to talk about it again. Uh the court of public opinion that already existed of course, with a video already making some sequences a little bit difficult understanding really, so um not justifying, but supposedly we do live in place that you are innocent until proven guilty. Don't shoot the messenger, just telling you what the thing says. So there you go. Let's continue talking. More than a dozen fully vaccinated residents in Los Angeles have been infected with Covid 19 the Los Angeles County public Health Director barbara Furrer tall deadline that the breakthrough cases of infection occurred in a long term care facility, a mixture of residents and staff. Yes, it is possible to test positive for virus after being fully vaccinated for her. Said though the number of infections are likely is very small. So I'm kind of, I'm kind of intrigued, we'll say by some of this. So the vaccination people are getting it, still getting infected, but that's kind of backtrack for a moment, remember when people were getting the flu shot and still getting the flu, but it really wasn't that big of a deal. People talking about it and this is kind of like an emergency release one in regards of being able to get it and all that stuff. So are we really kind of thinking here, Oh God, what the hell is happening? Because people are still getting it? I mean, I'm just asking the question, this is why I have said it and said it again and I'll probably say it 1000 times more. You have to make the decision on what's best for you in your circumstance opposed to this saying, well, the court of public opinion says, listen, if I lived by myself, which I don't thank God, I would probably say, hey, I'm not doing anything. And that would be my choice because my travels consists of work, home, work, home, virtual world, work home. But then I have to start thinking at my work, is there more people there? So then do I want to infect anyone? So then I would have to make that my idea of, so do I do a home studio and then I just go home, home studio, home, home studio and then that's okay because I'm pretty much locked up by myself and I have nobody else coming to the door with the exception of probably Uber eats and some delivery severus like grubhub or something along those lines, an insta cart and all that other fun stuff that delivers everything to my door and amazon. So there you go. So you have to make the decision, you know, based on whatever the hell you want to do. And then of course, if you want to put it on social media for the world to know what the hell you're doing. Good, that's good for you to. That's something you should feel inclined on doing if that's what you want to do. I mean, I made fun of some people for doing so, I mean it's great that blah blah was starting to get concerned on what other things they might actually do and then posted online, but hey, that's okay. Do you do you me to me? Okay. Cool. Okay, murders have increased in cities have that have backed fund defunding the police? Have you heard about this? This has been making the sequence of events. Law enforcement, Legal Defense Fund of pro law enforcement group based in Washington, D. C. Found that murders, numbers have soared in all major cities, uh, uh, tangled up with de policing the police. Did you hear about this or no? There is this kind of new news. Okay. The us solve more than 20,000 murders last year, 4000 more than in 2019 and the highest number since 1995. As law enforcement officers pulled back from doing their job. The report states Here at the suspicious six of the report in ST Louis 87 out of every 100,000 residents were murdered in 2020. What in ST louis 87 out of every 100,000 residents were murdered in 2020. Okay, in Portland Murder skyrocketed by 255% from june 2022 february 2021 doesn't give you a number two says the skyrocket, there was a lot of riots over there too, just in case. Let's not forget that in Chicago arrest declined by 53% while homicides jumped 65% from last summer through the beginning of this year. The number of murders were up in New York by 58 from 2019 to 2020. Louisville saw 87 spike in murders last year, compared to the year before Minneapolis on increased by 64 in murders and a 42 in decrease in traffic stops in 2020. So Los Angeles saw a 51 uptick in homicides in a 33 and arrest from last year. So what do you think when you hear that? So I don't know. I mean, you have to think about it. So you hear about that, but I'm sure there's always more stats to be discovered and to be discussed. We can't limited just to one thing. So, what do you think when you hear that? Seriously? Like, there has to be some thought process in regards of? Okay, so this is happening. How did it happen? And is this what is coinciding with it? So do you think that the funding of the police department has something to do with it now? It did reference at the beginning of the news story that it has to do with people that are tangled into it, or cities that are tangled into it. But how much de funding has went into place? And I believe me, Are we putting into the fact here about some of these things related to the pandemic? I'm just asking on that other portion because I think that's kind of another important part of the whole thing. Is it really just one cause that's causing all of this anyways, those who completed fighter to step Covid does, uh, 19 regimen will need a booster within 12 months. Did you hear about this? And possibly an annual shot? Therefore, uh, thereafter according to Ceo Albert boiler revealed on thursday. Uh huh uh, these are vaccines like polio that one dose is um, there are vaccines like polio that windows is enough and there are vaccines like vaccine that one dose is enough for adults. And there are vaccines like the flu that needs a shot every year. I think we're kind of going to go that path already. We kind of knew that uh, this was according to Albert, the kelvin virus looks like more like influenza virus than the polio virus. Pfizer vaccine is highly effective up to six months after the second dose. According to findings from the late stage trial. So what do you think? I don't know, it's it's I think that we're gonna be talking about this for some time. I don't think that this subject is going to change anytime soon and I know some people are not gonna like that. Uh hopefully we'll start seeing some more of us being able to get out and about and so on. Now of course, the passport thing comes up in conversation right away. Once you see that once that's mentioned of vaccine, passport blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. So let's not get crazy here. Let's kind of go through the whole sequence of events of what's going to need to be done anyways, let's continue talking about some other stuff going on inside of the world. A school in Atlanta is changing its name to honor the late MLB Hall of Famer Hank Aaron. The original uh the original name honored confederate army Lieutenant General Nathan Bedford Forrest, who has been founding member of the ku Klux Klan. After um an anonymous vote, the Atlanta Board of Education agreed to reading to force killed academy to hank Aaron new beginnings. Academy Aaron passed away in January at 86. He was laid to rest in Atlanta where he played for the braves for nine years. What's your thoughts on it? What is your thoughts on that? Good, bad, indifferent so on. I mean what's the thought? I mean it's always stuff to think about. For sure. Anyways, Japanese officials said canceling the Tokyo somewhere. Olympus is still on the table as the country grapples with the spike of COVID-19 cases. Toshihiro Nikai, the Secretary general of the Liberal Democratic Party said that it should seem impossible to go on with the Games. The olympic must definitely be cancelled. As reported by the Associated Press. The International Olympic Committee says that it will remain committed to the upcoming Summer Olympics. The games are set for July 23 August the 8th. Can't we just do a virtual one? Can't we just have a virtual a virtual event instead? Can we not do it in a video game form? Would that it is not to be the easiest way to do it for our safety show, sarcastic, never. Safety in a way. Never heard of before. The rated R. Safety show on safety. FM. Well it's about that time that my partner, my colleague, my friend, comes in and gives us the market minutes. So let's talk about it right now. Here's john smalls, here's your market beat minute for friday. April 16th 2021. The earnings driven rally accelerated thursday following the better than expected results from Pepsico and UnitedHealth. Both companies top there consensus estimates for Q. One revenue and earnings and gave favourable guidance for the year. Shares of UnitedHealth were among today's leaders with a gain of nearly four at the end of the session Blow out. Economic data is also responsible for a portion of the S&P 500 is one advance and a new all time high on the employment front, the weekly jobless claims data came in at the lowest level since March 2020 and it's a sign of accelerating improvement in the labor-market conditions. On the consumer front, retail sales rose nearly 10 from the previous month on the combined impact of government stimulus money and strengthening labor market conditions. You can get the inside track from Wall Street's brightest minds delivered directly to your inbox every day at market beat minute dot com. Okay, so let's go over. Some of this information shares surged on Thursday as the Dow lifted 305 points and the NASDAQ rose 180 points in the SNP gained 45 points. Strong economic data was a driver elevating stock during Thursday's session. Retail sales For March were reported to be having an increase of 9.8%, while only 6.1 was expected. First time job lost. Claimants were also below estimates, ups added more than two after the stock was upgraded from outperform too strong by, by barclays. The numbers of Americans seeking unemployment benefits last week plummeted to its lowest level since the onset of the pandemic. As John has just said, the latest batch of the 576,000 initial jobless claims brought the new Total for the COVID pandemic to roughly 79.6 million Claims fell from the prior week's revised total of 769,000 and was much lower than economic economics predicted to 700,000. The number was well below the pre pandemic record of 695,000. So what do you think when you hear that? Because that's a lot of stuff going on for sure. It does change a lot of things here. But here's the thing. We have seen this kind of fluctuate week to week and I'm talking about the jobless claims. We are still talking we are on the verge of hitting 80 million people who have actually filed for first time jobless claims. And yes, I'm glad that we are seeing potentially the market moving. But what are we going to do here? Sometimes, Main Street does not catch up to Wall Street as fast as Wall Street says that they're caught up to Main Street. You know that I know that there is one sector that's kind of blowing it out of the water. But then there's another side of the equation where it's not going too well, tell some things to think about. As we kind of put those sequences together. Anyways, we're close to that time. So, let's talk about it. Let's talk about it right now. Here is our main story on the radio safety show. I think this camera thing is just hating me today, but that's okay. I'm kind of used to a lot of this stuff, not going the way that uh that we think, but it's cool. It's cool, whatever it takes, whatever it takes, I tell you. So, anyways, let's start talking about some other things and start going down inside of the world of what we were talking about earlier and what brought you possibly to the show. But when you sit around and think about the work that you do, because most of the people that are hanging out today, our safety pros and you've taken a look inside of organizations, you've probably seen it from time to time. You probably even know someone or you could be someone that has become the weathered safety pro, the weather person that's related to safety. You know, I take a look around and sometimes it's amazing to me as I look at this on the expectancy of what people expect the safety professional to know inside of an organization about what they're expected to know all around the board and sometimes they get tied into doing things that will say that are, quote unquote, not safety related Sam Goodman, as he calls it on his show, safety fix it. And what does he mean by when he says that, that's the HOP nerd show, just in case you're not familiar with the name SAm Goodman. Where safety is expected to fix everything, go fix this, go fix that, go fix whatever. Even if it's out of your realm of knowledge at the time. And that's the thing. This is how we start getting to the point where we start seeing the weathered safety person and it's not that they're not good at their job because that's not the case. But what ends up taking place a lot of the times is there such high demand of everything they're supposed to do? They become weathered by what is going on currently inside of the organization, they become weathered because they get tired and frustrated with the industry of, I was hired to be focusing on X, but now X has become this, this and this. Now. We've always had that conversation about playing both sides of the equation where we start talking about the safety pro that's out there and why the C suite wants you to earn a place at the table because they had to go up through the sequences of events before they were able to get to the C suite. But I know and you know, as we have this discussion that when you become the weathered safety person or safety fix it, you believe that you have done so much work to get to that part. You believe that you've done so many things that you've earned the spot, not deserve the spot. You've earned the spot, huge difference between the two things. So what happens and how can you prove that you are so important inside of the organization? Because that becomes a very weird thing. Some people don't like having that discussion. And here's the thing when it comes to a lot of these C suite positions, it's about how you market yourself. Let's be realistic, you have to have people that are out there that are believing you Now, here's the thing as well. When we start talking about this, it becomes a difficult conversation. Nobody wants to admit that they're weathered and they're frustrated with some of the things that are going on inside of the positions that they do inside of a job environment. I understand that let's not lie to each other, but when you see this and we talk about it, you have to find people that agree with what you have going on, essentially, they become a version al Itty of someone who is cheering you on and that are going out there and promoting stuff for you, you know, the interesting part is as we talk about this, the more I look at this, if you really want to have a good understanding on how to actually have an influence inside of your organization, when it comes to safety, hook up with your marketing person, not hook up like that, by the way, wait tag team with them, your marketing person inside of that organization, if you have one can help propel what you're trying to drive forward. Here is the interesting thing as you're pushing your safety communication via marketing because that's what probably needs to be done all of a sudden, Maybe you're not safety fix it now, all of a sudden you're not the weathered safety person, is it going to happen overnight? No, but here's the thing, we want to take these very complex situations and not try to advance them and not try to make them not so boring. And that's the issue that we run into. If you don't make safety fun and it's not about always the doom and gloom. People are not going to care. I'll tell you that I've seen it throughout the years. If I sit behind here and I tell you how you do your job and I've been doing being in this industry for a year and you've been here for 20. Why the hell are you gonna listen to me? But if I do something that I can gather your attention all of a sudden it becomes something different. Now when I say gather intention, I'm not talking about the shocking our video That's popular in the 90s. Oh yes. Let me show you this merger. Let me show you this severe accident. Now, what kind of emotional event do you have based on this? Not what I'm talking about. Infotainment. I know you've heard the term, but infotainment will keep people for a period of time. You have to turn it. Infotainment to stuff that is valuable. That brings value to the organization. If you don't want to be the weathered safety person, that's what needs to be focused on. That's the thing. The interesting thing is when you start taking a turn on trying to promote and do a different paradigm or a shift, people might be a little bit more open to it. Is it going to be easy? Probably not. If you've been accustomed to doing X, y and Z the whole time and all of a sudden the change occurs overnight. Probably not going to be an easy thing, but you are where there are influencers inside of your organization. Yes, and I do use that word lightly, but they can help drive what you're trying to promote, what you're trying to say. If you don't want to be safety fix it and you don't want to be the weather safety person, I'm going to tell you the best horse is using the person who actually does marketing inside of your organization. If you don't have someone who does marketing inside of your organization. Hey, I'm going to tell you there are certain things that stick out in your head when it comes to marketing, if I say, but that why am I loving it? And what marketing portion was I talking about right there and if I go bum bum bum green, funny how certain things stick out. It's all about how you market it. But what do I know? Just a guy behind a microphone? Oops. What did he just say? We have safety FM. Don't always agree with the viewpoints of our hosts and guests. Now back to real safety talk on safety. FM.
